Canada geese are a familiar site on our canals and rivers. They have a black neck and head, with white 'cheeks', and a pale breast which darkens to brown towards the tail.

They are a large bird and can be quite aggressive, making a loud honking sound.

The population of Canada geese, once on a serious decline, is now growing in numbers, especially those birds that are non-migratory in nature.
